At only 19, *Lauren began experiencing symptoms consistent with a chronic Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), including urinary incontinence. As a full-time college student, she was discouraged by the extreme difficulty of managing these limiting and embarrassing symptoms. Not only was Lauren’s social life disrupted, but her academic career also suffered tremendously due to the constant pain and other symptoms.
Frustrated and concerned about complications that could arise from a chronic UTI such as permanent kidney damage or sepsis (a potentially life-threatening complication of an infection), Lauren saw several medical professionals hoping they could provide her with a definitive diagnosis, and hopefully, a positive prognosis that would lead to relief from her symptoms. Unfortunately, none of the physicians Lauren sought advice from were able to provide her with answers explaining her illness.
